Mahindra and Mahindra launched its popular model Thar Sports model Mahindra Thar 2WD yesterday. It is comparatively more affordable than the 4WD model.

The new model comes with rear-wheel drive capability. It will be offered with two engine options with manual and automatic transmissions, Mahindra said in its report.

The diesel-powered manual rear-wheel drive variant is priced between Rs 9.99 lakh and Rs 10.99 lakh. Meanwhile, the petrol-powered automatic version is priced at Rs 13.49 lakh. The bookings for the same have already been initiated, and the deliveries will start on 14 January 2023.

Mahindra Thar now offers electronic brake locking on its 4-wheel drive variants. The control panel located behind the driver's door and between the steering wheel and the 2WD's auto start/stop feature can be used to operate it. The new model has priced at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Thar includes a 7.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, power-adjustable outside mirrors, cruise control, and LED daytime running lights. Anand Mahindra has tweeted, "This time, we are dropping more than just jaws. The new range starts at ₹9.9 lahks. Bookings open."
