Released on January 23, Border 2 carries forward the emotional legacy of the 1997 war classic Border, and early signs suggest the sequel has struck the right chord with audiences. Headlined by Sunny Deol, the film also features Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty and Diljit Dosanjh in key roles, adding fresh energy to the patriotic drama.

The film opened bookings on Friday with an impressive ₹30 crore, followed by around ₹9 crore on Saturday morning. With the Republic Day holiday and a long weekend ahead, the total collection has already touched nearly ₹40 crore, indicating a strong box-office run.

Set against the backdrop of the 1971 Indo-Pak war, Border 2 narrates the conflict through three new perspectives - Indian Army Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya, Indian Navy Lt Cdr MS Rawat, and Indian Air Force Flying Officer Nirmaljit Singh - alongside senior Lt Col Fateh Singh Kaler. Their individual journeys and shared sense of duty form the emotional core of the film.

The screenplay by Sumit Arora and Anurag Singh is structured in two halves: the first explores the soldiers' training and personal lives. In contrast, the second delivers intense, full-scale war sequences. Anshul Chobey's cinematography stands out, capturing sweeping landscapes, fierce battle scenes and the scale of heavy ammunition with impact.

More than just a sequel, Border 2 evokes pride and emotion, making viewers respect soldiers who turn strangers into comrades on the battlefield.
