Superstar Rajinikanth's much-awaited sequel Jailer 2 is officially set for a worldwide release on June 12, 2026. Superstar Rajinikanth travelled to Kochi for the film's final shooting schedule, marking the last leg of production for one of the most anticipated Indian films of the year.
The film is being released in Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi, and Kannada, aiming to reach a pan-Indian audience. Directed by Nelson, Jailer 2 is expected to push the action-comedy genre further, building on the massive success of its prequel, released three years ago.
In a recent interview with a Bengali media outlet, veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty revealed that he was highly impressed by the story and ensemble cast of Jailer 2. He hinted that the sequel would offer "a great surprise" for fans. Mithun also mentioned that several senior stars are part of the film, including Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, Malayalam icon Mohanlal, Ramya Krishnan, and Kannada star Shivarajkumar. However, the makers have not officially confirmed Shah Rukh Khan's cameo or disclosed details about his role.
Actor Shivarajkumar has confirmed that he has begun shooting for the sequel and stated that his role in Jailer 2 will be more significant than in the first film. Rajinikanth will once again be seen as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, the no-nonsense former police officer whose fierce persona won over audiences in the original. Ramya Krishnan also reprises her role as his wife, continuing the emotional core of the story.
The cast also includes Vinayakan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Santhanam, all of whom have recently confirmed their involvement. Actress Meghna Raj Sarja is set to make her comeback to Tamil cinema with a key role in the film, while Anna Rajan is also part of the ensemble.
Music for Jailer 2 is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, with cinematography handled by Vijay Kartik Kannan and editing by R. Nirmal. Backed by a strong technical team, the film is produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner.
With a powerful cast, high expectations, and Rajinikanth returning in one of his most celebrated roles, Jailer 2 is shaping up to be a major cinematic event of 2026.
