Kalyani Priyadarshan has officially confirmed that she will be returning for Lokah Chapter 2, putting an end to months of speculation surrounding her involvement in the much-anticipated sequel. Speaking at a recent public event on February 18, the actress delighted fans by openly acknowledging her participation in the project.
"Yes, I'm part of the film," she said, a simple statement that instantly sparked excitement among followers of the blockbuster franchise. She also revealed that the sequel is currently in pre-production, with shooting expected to begin around September this year.
The announcement has reignited enthusiasm for the next chapter of the Lokah universe, which made a massive impact with its first instalment, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, released in August 2025.
The film was widely appreciated for its ambitious world-building, compelling performances, and high technical standards. Kalyani's portrayal of Chandra, also known as Kalliyankattu Neeli, became one of the most talked-about aspects of the film.
Backed by strong word of mouth and successful dubbed releases in Tamil and Telugu, the film crossed the ₹300 crore mark at the global box office. In doing so, it became the first Malayalam production to achieve this milestone, a landmark moment for the industry.
Produced by Dulquer Salmaan under his banner Wayfarer Films, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra marked the beginning of a planned five-part cinematic universe inspired by regional myths and folklore. The franchise aims to explore interconnected stories rooted in local legends while blending fantasy with large-scale cinematic storytelling.
According to earlier confirmations from the makers, Lokah Chapter 2 will primarily focus on the character Michael, also known as Chathan, played by Tovino Thomas. While Dulquer Salmaan is expected to reprise his role as Charlie in Odiyan, an official confirmation of his return is yet to be announced.
With the sequel moving into its writing phase and production set to commence later this year, expectations are already soaring. If the first chapter is anything to go by, Lokah Chapter 2 is poised to expand the mythological universe further and deliver another cinematic spectacle.
