The Madras High Court has banned the illegal release of Ponniyin Selvan 2 on websites. A case was filed on behalf of Lyca Protections seeking to ban private website service companies from publishing Ponniyin Selvan 2 on websites.
When this petition came up for hearing in the Madras High Court, it was argued that since the film was produced and released at a high cost, it would cause huge losses if released illegally on the websites.
Subsequently, internet service companies have been ordered to prevent the release of Ponniyin Selvan 2 on websites.
