The trailer for the highly anticipated film, "Kenatha Kanom," a rural comedy-drama starring acclaimed actor and comedian Yogi Babu and actress Rachel Rebecca, was officially unveiled today, March 6, 2026, by actor Karthi.

Fans won't have to wait long to catch the full feature, as the film is set for a grand theatrical release on March 13, 2026. Following its exclusive run in cinemas, Jio Hotstar has secured the digital rights, allowing subscribers to stream the movie from the comfort of their homes.

On the directorial front, the film carries a profound emotional weight as it marks the final work of Suresh Sangaiah, the acclaimed filmmaker behind Kenatha kanom, who tragically passed away last November.

The film features a strong ensemble of supporting talent, including Lovelyn Chandrasekhar, Ramakrishnan, and the versatile George Maryan, alongside veteran performers Mottai Rajendran, Kavitha Bharathi, Kalaipandiyan, and Hello Kandasamy.

The movie's technical backbone is equally impressive, featuring a soulful, atmospheric musical score by Nivas K. Prasanna. The visual narrative is captured through the lens of cinematographer Thiyagarajan, while editor R. Ramar has meticulously shaped the pacing and flow of this final tribute. With such a dedicated team, the film is poised to be a fitting farewell to a director who left us far too soon.

The trailer opens against the vibrant backdrop of a temple festival, with a bustling crowd gathered. In a departure from his usual roles, Yogi Babu appears as a village priest who emerges as a central figure in the community's struggle against a crippling water scarcity crisis.

While he champions the villagers' cause, the narrative introduces a poignant romantic subplot; however, the hero's love is opposed by the girl's father.

This conflict is encapsulated in the biting dialogue, "Igga thaai illama kashta patta, agga poi thanni illama kashta pada poriya?" (You struggled here without a mother; are you going to struggle there without water?), highlighting the dire stakes of their environment.

The tension escalates as the community unites to dig a well, only to uncover a mysterious object that serves as the trailer's central cliffhanger, leaving viewers in suspense.

Adding a touch of meta-humour at the conclusion, a conversation between Yogi Babu and Mottai Rajendran features a witty nod to the "Thala" legacy, with a line stating, "Varalarulaiyeh namma Thala nadichi irukkaru" (Even in history, our 'Thala' has performed).

The clever inclusion of 'Thala' references ensures that this film will not only captivate Yogi Babu's massive fan base but will also strike a chord with the loyal legions of Thala fans.

The movie Kenatha Kanom promises to be a complete cinematic package, one that honours the late Suresh Sangaiah's legacy through a perfect blend of poignant reality and heart-filled humour.
