Farmers Protest 2024: Demands Legal Guarantee Of Minimum Support Price

The farmers have announced that they will hold a protest today (13.02.2024) in Delhi to demand a fair basic profit price for their produce, which was promised to them by the central government during the 2020 protest.

Last year, in 2020, farmers started protesting by laying siege to Delhi's borders against three agricultural laws. This protest shook the nation and made history.

The farmers ended their protest after over a year, demanding a law to ensure the minimum support price of agricultural produce. However, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha have called for a rally in Delhi today (Tuesday), saying that their demands have not been fulfilled even after two years.

It has been revealed that thousands of farmers from Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh will march towards Delhi, and measures are being taken to prevent them from doing so. Prohibitory Order 144 has been issued for one month in Delhi's Singhu, Tikri, and Ghazipur border areas.

Nails have been fixed on the road to puncture farmers' vehicles. Containers, police vehicles, giant concrete barricades, and barbed wire have been erected at Delhi's borders.

Five thousand security forces have been deployed in the border areas, and paramilitary forces have been deployed on the Delhi-Rohtak road. Farmers are also monitoring their movement through drones.

A discussion was held between the central government and the representatives of the farmers' associations last night. However, no agreement was reached during the talks, which lasted for about 6 hours.

In this situation, the farmers' associations have announced that the rally will start as planned at 10 am today. Accordingly, the farmers have started a rally at the Shambhu (Punjab- Haryana) border.
