The Indian Institute of Medical Research (ICMR), a part of the Union Health Department, has shared important information about the flu spreading across the country.

It has issued these guidelines based on the results of testing mucus samples at 32 centres. Accordingly, since December 15th, the virus called Influenza H3N2 (Influenza A subtype H3N2) has been spreading in the country.

This infection is more common in people above 50 and below 15 years. This seasonal fever lasts for 5 to 7 days. Even if the fever disappears, the cough may continue for up to 3 weeks.

Affected individuals experience colds, coughs, fever, body aches, diarrhoea, nausea, and breathing problems. About 50 per cent of people who develop a serious respiratory infection called SARI are affected by this infection.
