The CEO of the world's largest vaccine manufacturer stated It takes four to five years for the vaccine to be available for everyone.

The day after Union health minister Harsh Vardhan said a COVID vaccine would be ready by next year. Adar Poonawalla, the chief executive of Serum Institute of India, warned it takes four to five years to everyone in the world to get the vaccine. If it is a two-dose vaccine, we would require 15 billion doses. Though 35 vaccines are in the final stage of testing, no one has come near the end of trials. Pharmaceutical companies have not yet increased productivity but Corona exposure is more vigorous than vaccine manufacturers.

The Pune-based pharma firm has pledged to produce 100 crore doses, half of which will be delivered to India. It has a partnership with five international pharmaceutical companies, including AstraZeneca and NovaVax, to develop the corona vaccine.
