The Vidyasagar-Kasitar express train in Jamtara, Jharkhand, was moving near the railway station in Kalajaria. When the train stopped at the station, some passengers jumped outside the train suddenly. At that time, a MEMU (Mainline Electric Multiple Unit) train was coming from the opposite direction of the nearby track. It's been reported that two people died on the spot when the train crashed with them. And ten to twelve others were rushed to the hospital.

The incident was triggered by rumours that there was a fire on one of the coaches on the train. But the railways said there was no fire in the coaches, and they also clarified that the victims were not passengers but locals walking on the track.
