Jyotiraditya Scindia has officially joined BJP before J P Nadda. It is after his meeting with prime minister Modi and Amit Shah yesterday. Scindia has, in the process of joining BJP, also has caused turmoil in the Congress ruling Madhya Pradesh assembly. Soon after his meeting with Modi-Shah, 21 congress MLAs from MP who are now in Banglore under Scindia's care have sent their resignation letters to the MP assembly speaker.

Madhavrao Scindia, the father of Jyotiraditya Scindia, was a close confidante of Rajiv Gandhi. He was responsible for digitalizing the railways way back in the 1990s. But after his sudden accidental death, his son Jyotiraditya came into politics and was elected four times MP as Congress candidate.

He was also close to the Gandhi family and, in particular, Rahul Gandhi. But in the last MP election in May, he lost to the BJP candidate. And while the BJP government abrogated Article 370 in Kashmir, even being in Congress, he supported the BJP for it a few months back. From then, it is alleged that some ego war between him and the Gandhi family has started.

In 2018 Congress won the assembly elections with a thin margin to form government in Madhya Pradesh. Out of the 230 MLAs, two seats are vacant due to the death of two MLAs. Hence for the absolute majority of 115, the strength of the house now is Congress 114, BJP 109, BSP, Samajwadi Party, and independents with 2, 1, and 4, respectively. With the support of independents and the Samajwadi Party, Congress is ruling the state.

Now with nearly 21 MLAs rallying behind Scindia, and if the speaker accepts their resignation letters, BJP may come back to power in MP like in Karnataka. And for return, it is alleged that Scindia will be made a Rajya Sabha member and then a central minister.
