Parasakthi Team Joins PM Modi at Grand Pongal Celebration in Delhi

New Delhi became a vibrant centre of harvest celebrations as the Parasakthi film team actors Sivakarthikeyan, Ravi Mohan, and music composer G.V. Prakash Kumar arrived in the capital to take part in Pongal festivities. The film personalities were special guests at the grand Pongal celebration hosted by Union Minister L. Murugan at his official residence. This event has evolved over the years into a high-profile annual cultural gathering in the national capital.
The significance of the celebration was heightened by the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, turning the occasion into more than a traditional festival. Rooted in gratitude to nature and agriculture, Pongal—celebrated as Sankranti in various parts of the country—was observed with traditional rituals and cultural interactions, reflecting the unity and diversity of Indian traditions.
Adding a spiritual and cultural dimension to the event, G.V. Prakash Kumar rendered a soulful rendition of "Thiruvasagam," drawing appreciation from the gathering. His performance stood out as one of the key highlights of the celebration, blending devotion with the festive spirit of Pongal.
Extending his greetings on the occasion, Prime Minister Modi said he prayed to Lord Surya for happiness, prosperity, and good health for all. In a message shared on X, he described Pongal as a celebration of the bond between human effort and nature and a tribute to farmers, rural life, and the dignity of labour.
Calling Pongal a reflection of the richness of Tamil traditions, he noted that India takes pride in Tamil as the world's oldest living language and that the festival is now celebrated globally by Tamil communities.
The Prime Minister also extended wishes for Magh Bihu, the major harvest festival of Assam, describing it as a celebration of joy, warmth, and brotherhood.
PM Modi said the festival symbolises contentment and gratitude after the harvest season, recognises the contribution of farmers, and encourages generosity and care. He expressed hope that the year ahead would bring peace, good health, happiness, and prosperity.
After the celebration, media interactions added to the event's buzz. Press persons raised questions to Sivakarthikeyan about the release of his upcoming film "Jana Nayagan" and also sought his views on actor Vijay's political journey. Responding calmly, Sivakarthikeyan avoided speculation and said he was happy for Vijay, congratulating him on his political path and wishing him success, while maintaining that his own focus remains on cinema.
Magh Bihu, celebrated with community feasts, marks the end of the harvest season in Assam. Along with Lohri, Pongal, Sankranti, and Uttarayan, it reflects the diverse ways harvest festivals are observed across India. The Pongal celebration in Delhi once again highlighted how culture, cinema, spirituality, and leadership come together, even far from their regional roots, to celebrate India's shared heritage.
