After being sentenced to 2 years in a defamation case, the parliamentary secretariat has taken action by taking away Rahul Gandhi's M.P post.

This action has come into effect from the day of the court verdict (March 23). Rahul Gandhi's sentence is not only two years, but the disqualification period is eight years, which is six years after the completion of the sentence.

Supreme Court Political experts say he will not be able to stand for election in these eight years. Rahul Gandhi may seek legal relief. He must first appeal against his conviction in the High Court.

On appeal, there should be a stay of his sentence and a stay of the judgment. Political and legal experts say that impeachment will also be suspended if this happens.
