The results are pouring in from all the 315 counting centers across Tamil Nadu. At 5 pm, DMK was marginally leading with 147 against AIADMK's 143 wins in the district panchayat ward members. In the village panchayat ward members, it was the AIADMK leading again slightly, with 589 wins against DMKs 562.

After a long wait of three and a half years, the Tamil people vote approximately 77 % in the two phases of the rural local body elections. Today the counting of the votes started from 8 am. After segregating the four different colored ballot papers, the results started pouring in from across Tamil Nadu. Some impressive winners of the local body polls include
