The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) is gearing up for a key organisational event in Thanjavur, with the party's district unit formally seeking police permission to hold a meeting that its president and actor-turned-politician Vijay will attend.

On Saturday, February 28, TVK's Thanjavur Central District Secretary R. Vijayasaravanan submitted a request letter to Superintendent of Police R. R. Ajam, seeking approval to organise the gathering on March 4.

According to the letter, Vijay is scheduled to meet and interact with party functionaries representing eight Assembly constituencies in the district.
The proposed event is planned from 10 am to 3 pm at a private ground near Ayyampatti along the Thanjavur-Trichy National Highway.

In a move to ensure streamlined management and security, the party has announced that identity cards will be issued to around 4,900 functionaries. Entry to the venue will reportedly be regulated through QR code scanning, a step the organisers say is intended to avoid overcrowding and maintain order during the high-profile event.

TVK leaders expressed confidence that the police department would grant the necessary permission, assuring that all guidelines and safety protocols would be strictly followed.

As political activity gathers momentum in the region, all eyes will be on Thanjavur on March 4. This move could further strengthen TVK's organisational footprint in the delta district.
