Abdul Kalam Award 2019 Conferred to ISRO Space Scientist Sivan

Kailasavadivoo Sivan is an Indian Space Scientist and chairperson of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). He was heading Chandrayaan-2 and successfully completed the project. Every year Abdul Kalam award is conferred to the best person who excels in science and technology. This year the award was conferred to Sivan who headed the Chandrayaan-2 research project. The successful launch of Chandrayaan-2 has put the world awestruck. Sivan is deserved for the award for his fantabulous contribution to the project.

There were days where the space research was done only by China, Russia and America. When India joined the slot, everyone was thinking otherwise and making fun of us. But now across the world after this successful completion of Chandrayaan-2, everyone was open-mouthed. In 2007, India launched Chandrayaan-1 project through which a piece of information was let out to the world that the moon has a water source. The distance between the moon and earth is 384000 kms.

The rocket from Chandrayan-1 initially revolved the earth and waited for the right time for the moon to come collinear. It immediately spotted the moon and revolved around it to find any water source in the moon. It hit the moon surface and splashed some particles of the moon from which it was found that water is existing in the moon.

India got so excited to go further down in the research, and in 2019 it has launched Chandrayaan-2 and got succeeded. The aim was to go a step ahead to research the water sources. Initially, Russia signed an agreement to help India for research equipment. Later since there was a delay in the project, Russia was requesting some more time and India denied the same. India localized the entire project and was successful in launching the same.

In this, an orbiter, lander and a robot were sent, and Robot was successful in researching the water resources. Nobody other than India dared to take up this project. Sivan headed this prestigious project. Now his contribution is obvious. Since he was busy, he was unable to get his award on August 15th the Independence Day. He received the same today from the hands of Chief Minister, Edappadi Palanisamy. He received a sum of Rs 500000, 8gms gold coin and a certificate of merit.
