Astronomy Events March 2024

In March 2024, there are many celestial events waiting to bliss the Solar system. For astronomy enthusiasts and stargazers, March is the month when many asteroids and dynamics in our universe are happening.

March 3: Asteroid 3 Juno

March month's Celestial event starts with a quick glance into our solar system. The 3 Juno was initially misunderstood as a planet. But it is a huge asteroid that was situated in the asteroid belt in the middle of the planets Mars and Jupiter. Asteroid 3 Juno is the third asteroid that has ever been discovered.

The Juno 3 asteroid will be drawn nearer towards Earth, brightening the night sky with its excellent luminance on March 3, 2024.

March 12: Asteroid 23 Thalia

23 Thalia is another asteroid in the main asteroid belt that will be visible. This,  the asteroid will reach its highest point in the sky at Midnight, coming to the nearest point on Earth. Anyone will be able to view the ideal cosmic alignment, with Earth, Thalia, and Sun, which are forming a straight line where the Earth will be at the centre.

The 23 Thalia can be seen in the morning sky with its magnificent appearance on March 12, 2024.

March 19: The Spring Equinox

The Spring equinox occurs when Sun crosses the Earth's equator and appears directly above it. During this celestial event, the Northern hemisphere will have a spring season, and the Southern hemisphere will have an autumn season.

The Spring equinox will happen on March 19, 2024. This Spring equinox is also known as the vernal equinox.

March 24: Mercury's Eastern Elongation

During this celestial event, the planet Mercury will be on the Sun's side, and it elongates to the greatest distance to the Sun. Mercury will reach its greatest eastern elongation at 19 degrees from the Sun.

This Mercury elongation will happen on March 24, and people can expect to see it in the evening time.

March 25: Full Worm Moon

The full worm moon will lighten up the night skin until dawn. This is also called the Paschal Full Moon. This is what will determine when Easter will be celebrated. The Easter holiday will be celebrated after the first full moon in the Spring season.

This luminous full-worm moon will be seen on March 25, 2024. Following this, the lunar eclipse will also take place on the same day.

March 30: Glimpse of Makemake

Makemake is also known as the Dwarf Planet. This planet will be perfectly aligned, facing the opposite direction of the Sun. It is also said that Makemake will be seen at night for longer hours.

This celestial event will take place on March 30, 2024. Another interesting fact is that the Makemake plant is at a distance of 45.8 units away from the Sun.

This list of celestial events creates a greater curiosity among astronomy enthusiasts and stargazers all over the globe.
