Isolation for astronauts is not new but the same on the earth for them is new: It is that all of us are looking at this pandemic awestruck, the astronauts do look at this from a vantage point and overwhelming their plight soon after they land on the earth. NASA astronauts Jessica Meir and Andrew Morgan are seeing the world struck with the pandemic and hearing the news every now and then on the proceedings.

On Friday, when they landed, they were meeting the press and the topic of coronavirus dominated the discussion. The astronauts opined it is bizarre to immediately visualize from the space station on the earth without people wandering around. They were excited much to say that the earth was quite stunning to see as usual, but it is hard to believe that it has contracted the pandemic.

Morgan, one of the astronauts selected by NASA, also serves as an emergency physician with the US army. He subtly said that being a physician, it is understood how tedious it is to be on the front lines encountering the pandemic.

"I am proud to be the part of the profession and feeling guilty as I am separated now and not able to serve the community," said Morgan. Both the astronauts were expressing their gratitude towards the doctors, nurses, healthcare workers, fire fighters, first respondents and everyone who challenges the pandemic from the front line. Isolation is not new to astronauts but for the people on earth is debuting the same.

The astronauts also felt it was okay with exciting projects and pursuits where isolation is not a big hiccup. Nevertheless, on earth once we land, not even a hug to our loved ones is the real isolation according to the space workers. NASA ground teams are also flowing the social distancing in a meticulous way and handing over shifts are happening in two rooms to maintain the distancing strategy.

One of the astronauts Christopher Cassidy was new to the profession and spent two weeks in quarantine before the launch. He humorously witted, "We knew we would be in quarantine, but it is shocking to see the rest of the world joined us". All jokes apart, this pandemic is restoring humanity and made people rejig their priorities. Two Russian cosmonauts and a US astronaut are docked at the space station. Cassidy will be the commander of Expedition 63 after the current commander returns to earth on April 17.
