Shekhar (40) and his younger brother Rajesh (37) are from Poonamallee Muthunagar, Chennai, and both are married. They live as a joint family with their mother in the same house. They have a sweet shop near the Poonamallee bus stand and handle the finance business. It is said that Shekhar's wife had separated two years ago. A few days ago, when she returned, he saw the 300 Sovereign jewellery he had kept in her cupboard, but it had disappeared.
Following this, when Rajesh checked on his ornaments, it was revealed that around 200 Sovereign jewellery and five gold bars belonging to his wife and mother were missing. Following this, Rajesh lodged a complaint at the Poonamallee police station. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case and investigated. Management investigation revealed that elder brother Shekhar had stolen 550 Sovereign jewellery and given it to his girlfriend.
Based on this, the police interrogated Shekhar and found out that he and a young girl Swathi (22), from Velachery Kedaripuram Main Road, had a relationship. They used to often meet at a hotel in the Porur area. It is also said that he gave little by little the gold from the house to his girlfriend, Swathi.
