Today, January 10, the Tamil Nadu Directorate of the school education department has announced that all students who are to write the fifth and eighth standard public exams should produce a caste certificate, Aadhar, and many other documents. Students belonging to the upper castes need not provide any caste certificates for writing the exams.

Today all private and government school principals received a circular asking to collect the details of the students who are going to write the fifth and eighth standard board exams. The directorate of school education has sent this circular, which requests the following details.

  • Students' name
  • Details of parents
  • Address
  • Aadhar details
  • Caste details

The reason said to be for the collection of these details is to upload them in EMIS or the Educational Management Information System of the Tamil Nadu. It will serve as a comprehensive database of all students in Tamil Nadu. It will include what caste they belong, what do their parents do, and many more. And with Aadhar card of the students, all the details of them will be with EMIS.

Recently a circular of the directorate of school education wanted the students to come to school on January 16 to watch the prime minister proposed speech on writing exams. While the Education Minister K. A. Sengottaiyan denied such circular, the chief minister said it is not mandatory for students to come to school on that day but should watch the prime minister’s speech on television.
