Due to the corona pandemic, public transports were stopped between the districts. But from Sept 7, Tamilnadu Express buses and Special trains are operating with government guidelines. Bookings started today.

On account of the COVID outbreak, the Tamilnadu government banned travels among the districts. Slackened Lockdown, which was announced Aug 29 revoked the prohibition. Express buses will start at midnight on the 6th.

The government Express bus - Bookings

In this context, online booking for government express bus travel started today. Outbound travelers can book online at www.tnstc.in and through the mobile app tnstc.

In the first phase, 400 government express buses will run between major cities including Chennai, Trichy, Tirunelveli, Madurai, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Thanjavur, Salem, Erode, and Nagercoil. The government express bus has a total of 43 seats, Only 26 to 32 passengers will be allowed on board. According to the State Express Transport Corporation, AC express buses will not function at present.

Special Trains - Bookings

Similarly, Lockdown 4.0 permits special trains to run among the districts from Sept 7th after five months. Thus,13 special trains will operate from Chennai to other cities, including Coimbatore, Madurai, Mettupalayam, Kanyakumari, Trichy, and back to Chennai. Eventually,  the ticket booking has started today and is in full swing at the railway station counter.

For Chennai, bookings are being made at 10 ticket counters. Many people are booking tickets for their trains at the Chennai Egmore Railway Station by following the security features. Online bookings also started for special trains from today.
