Chennai Rains: 20 Flights From Chennai Cancelled Due To Cyclone

Heavy rains continue in Chennai, Thiruvallur, Chengalpattu, and Kancheepuram as Cyclone Michuang moves towards the coast at 14 kmph. Due to this, transportation is severely affected.

In that case, 20 flights have already been cancelled, and the electric trains have also been cancelled for the entire day due to bad weather conditions, Southern Railway said. It is also informed that one special passenger train will be run every hour.

Due to Cyclone Michuang, domestic and international flight services at Chennai airport were severely affected. Six flights back to Bangalore. Departure flight 10, arrival flight 10, so far, 20 flights cancelled. Fourteen departing flights from Chennai, 12 arriving flights, and 26 flights were delayed by several hours.

Flight services have been temporarily suspended from 10 am to 2 pm due to winds blowing at 82 kmph in Meenambakkam. If the situation continues, the cancellation of flight services is likely to increase.

Today, two flights from Abu Dhabi to Chennai, two flights from Dubai and six flights from Bahrain and Mumbai were diverted to Bangalore as they could not land in Chennai.

Similarly, ten departure flights from Chennai to Dubai, Sri Lanka, Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, Coimbatore, Trichy, Kochi, and ten flights returning to Chennai from the same places, 20 flights have been cancelled so far today.

Apart from this, 14 departure flights, including Dubai, London, Singapore, Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata, and 12 arrival flights including London, Kuala Lumpur, Sharjah, Dubai, Mumbai, and Delhi, a total of 26 flights have been delayed for several hours so far. The services of 68 flights have been affected due to high winds blowing at the airport and flood water standing on the runway.
