Thousands of patients are being treated at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital in Chennai Central. About 5,000 outpatients a day come to this hospital for treatment. Many people from Tamil Nadu and the neighbouring states come here for treatment.

A fire broke out in a storage room at the back of the 3rd Sector building on the premises of the Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital this morning. When the public saw this, they screamed and ran away. Fortunately, no patients or civilians were harmed in the accident.

Soon after hearing the information, five fire trucks arrived at the spot. One of the cylinders appears to have exploded and scattered in the area where the medical equipment was kept. So no one is advised to go near that building.

After the investigation, it was said that the fire broke out in a storage room at the Tower 2 of the Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital due to a short circuit.
