Thousands of migrant workers gathered at the Coimbatore railway station on Sunday to go back to their hometowns.

More than 2 lakh migrant workers from northern states work in Coimbatore since it is one of the best industrialist cities. The workers are from Bihar, Odisha, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. They work in industrial companies operating in various places like mills, textiles, power looms, pump manufacturing companies, and plastic factories.

For the past few days, rumours have spread on social media that there is a threat to migrant workers in Tamil Nadu and that they are being attacked. Due to this, many migrant workers from the Coimbatore, Tirupur, and Erode areas are going to their native towns by train.

On the other hand, Gopi and Sudhakar were pointed out as responsible for promoting hatred against North Indians. Recently they posted a parthabangal video centring north Indians, which went viral on social media. And so few targeted Gopi and Sudhakar for the current migrant issue.
