Heavy rain in 16 districts In Tamil Nadu As Agni Nakshatram Ends

The Chennai Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rains in Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Kallakurichi, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Cuddalore, Trichy, Salem, Namakkal, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Theni and Dindigul districts today.

The Agni Nakshatram period is coming to an end tomorrow. The sun was shining bright in many areas. Cuddalore, Karur recorded a temperature of 40 degrees Celsius. Chennai, Vellore recorded a temperature of 39 degrees Celsius. Madurai, Thanjavur and Trichy recorded temperatures of 38 degrees Celsius.

It is raining in some parts of the district despite the scorching sun. During the last 24 hours, maximum rainfall of 6 cm was recorded at Valparai, Kanchipuram and Puducherry at 5 cm each.

The Met Office has forecast light to moderate showers with thundershowers in some parts of Tamil Nadu, Puthuvai and Karaikal today. Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Kallakurichi, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Cuddalore, Trichy, Salem, Namakkal, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Theni, Dindigul districts, Karaikal and Pondicherry, are likely to receive heavy showers at one or two places.
