Located in the scenic Mudumalai Tiger Reserve forest of the Nilgiris district is the century-old Bokkapuram Mariamman temple. Bokkapuram Mariamman is revered and worshipped by tribals of Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
It is customary for devotees to flock to participate in the Bokkapuram Mariamman Chariot festival (Thaer Thirivizha), held annually according to the time-honoured tradition. This festival will not only be enjoyed by the locals but also by the foreigners.
