Roads from Mettupalayam to Coonoor and Kotagiri have been affected by landslides due to heavy rain, so the Ooty toy train service has been cancelled.

As the northeast monsoon has intensified in Tamil Nadu, districts including Coimbatore and Nilgiris have reported heavy rainfall since Wednesday night.

The Nilgiris district has been receiving continuous heavy rains for over a month. In this situation, the Mettupalayam - Coonoor and Kotagiri roads have been stopped for traffic due to landslides and fallen trees at many places.

On the 9th, widespread rain fell across the Nilgiris district, resulting in landslides at various places. As a result, rocks and trees fell at various places on the mountain railway track between Mettupalayam-Coonoor-Ooty and traffic was affected.

In some places, the rough floods washed the entire terrain under the railway track, so the reconstruction work was delayed. Following this, the train service resumed on November 19.

Meanwhile, trees and rocks fell at various places on the mountain railway tracks due to heavy rains on Wednesday night. Due to this, the Southern Railway has announced that the Ooty toy train service between Mettupalayam-Coonoor will be cancelled till the 25th.

Due to the cancellation of Ooty toy train, tourists who had reservations were refunded. However, tourists were disappointed as they could not travel by mountain train.
