Salem To Yercaud Private Bus Accident: 5 Killed And 65 Injured

A Private bus lost control of the driver which turned out to be a huge accident near Yercaud on April 30 (Tuesday).  As of now, it reported five passengers have been killed, and 65 passengers have been injured and taken to the Hospital. The locals and police helped to rescue the injured passengers.

Yercaud Private Bus Accident:

A Private bus carrying passengers above 70 was heading towards Salem from Yercaud. The Bus driver while enrouting the hill station lost control of the bus on the 13th bend which resulted in the bus falling from the 13th bend to the 11th bend.

The accident took place around 6.30 pm yesterday. As soon the locals were notified of this tragic bus accident, they came forward to rescue the passengers with the help of police and the Fire service department. After the rescue, they found out 5 people were killed including a 10-year-old child, and the injured 65 passengers were taken to Yercaud Government Hospital.

The family members of the passengers who traveled on the bus expressed their sorrow in the interviews given to the private channels. Relatives are asking for justice from the Government and are desperate for the government to take action against the bus owner.

The injured passengers and their relatives have reported that the bus was full and few passengers were standing. It is said that since the bus was too loaded the bus would have gone out of control while turning in the hairpin bend.

Salem Collecter R Brendha Ravi Visit:

The Salem collector R Brendha Ravi visited the accident scene along with the police. Seeing the tragic accident, she passed stern rules and mentioned, that the drivers driving Yercaud are only permitted to travel at the speed limit of 30 km. Drivers will be monitored and those who overrule will be severely punished. 

It is also informed that only the drivers who have good experience in the Hill stations are only considered eligible drivers to climb the Yercaud.
