While the Northeast Monsoon started yesterday, Monsoon has spread over Central Tamil Nadu, Kerala and South Inner Karnataka.

Due to this, it is raining in soma parts of Tamil Nadu. Also, due to the atmospheric downward circulation prevailing in South West Bay of Bengal and adjoining South Sri Lankan coastal areas.

Meteorological Department said there is a possibility of widespread rain in Tamil Nadu till November 3. Accordingly, it has been reported that from today (Monday) to the 3rd (Thursday), light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning may occur at many places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.

Similarly, 'Orange Alert', heavy to very heavy rain at one or two places in Thiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Ranipet, Chennai, Chengalpattu, Vellore, Tirupattur, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Kallakurichi, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Pudukottai districts and Puducherry.
