Another new high of 6,988 infected cases reported today July 25 to take the total tally beyond two lakhs at 2,06,737 cases in Tamil Nadu. Also, the death toll is at an all-time high of 89 to reach 3,409 total deaths. But the good news is, the discharged cases at 7,758 are the highest so far, which is for the first time more than the new infected persons even at the highest today. Also, the active cases are only 52,273, which is only one-fourth of the total positive cases. It brings the recovery rate at 73.06 in Tamil Nadu, one of the highest in India along with highest number of testing centers and PCR tests.

COVID 19 in Chennai: Even with the rise of coronavirus infections from 3,000 to 7,000 now, Chennai has only half its infections compared to its highs. There were 1,329 new cases and 20 deaths today, which is good news for the Chennai people. Many were expecting the rise of new cases after 15 days of lifting the intense lockdown on July 5. But even after nearly 20 days now, there is no significant rise in the new cases. If the Chennai people continue the seriousness of COVID 19 awareness, they can come to normal from August 1 after the end of lockdown 6.0.

Coronavirus is at a rapid pace in Districts: Like in Chennai, the other four crowded cities in Tamil Nadu include Coimbatore, Madurai, Trichy, and Salem. Coimbatore had the highest infections of 270 today in recent days. There are also six deaths reported from the industrial district, which is adjacent to Kerala. The collector has ordered the closure of all shops, including TASMAC shops, from 5 PM today, July 25 to 6 AM on July 27. It could cut the chain of coronavirus infections in Coimbatore is the expectation of the people who will follow all the restrictions to be safe from COVID 19 ailment.

Madurai though comes down from highs, has 301 new cases today with nine deaths reported. Trichy also had high cases in recent days of 199, with six deaths. Salem is marginally low, with 112 cases and one death reported. The Chennai adjacent districts continue to have a rise in the cases with Chengalpattu - 449, Kancheepuram 443- and Tiruvallur - 385.
