A night curfew has been declared in Tamil Nadu from tomorrow for the first week to control the spread of corona and Omicron. It is confirmed that there will complete lockdown on Sundays. The Tamil Nadu government has also clarified what is allowed during the night curfew.

Accordingly, a night curfew has been imposed on weekdays from tomorrow. The night curfew will be in effect from 10 pm to 5 am. All malls, businesses, shops, restaurants, etc., are not allowed to operate. However, during the night curfew, transport companies must ensure compliance with public and private bus services within the state and interstate public/private bus services.

The driver and operator must confirm that the relevant transportation company administration has paid both instalments. Essential services such as milk distribution, daily newspaper distribution, hospitals, medical laboratories, pharmacies, ambulance and ambulance services, ATMs, trucks and fuel vehicles (petrol, diesel & LPG) will also be allowed at night.

The Tamil Nadu government has said that although public and private transport has been allowed during the night curfew, public transport and metro trains will not run during the full curfew on Sundays. 

There will be no classes for LKG and UKG, while only online classes will be held for classes 1 to 9. Physical classes will be allowed for Class 10, Class 11 and Class 12. All colleges, except medical and paramedical colleges, will be closed till January 20. The Government said that only 100 people will be allowed in case of weddings, and for funerals is 50. Theatres, shops, gyms etc will only be allowed to operate with 50% occupancy. Amusement parks will remain shut.
