Chennai Meteorological Department has issued a weather report stating, "There is an area where the easterly wind and the westerly wind meet in the lower layers of the tropical cyclone prevailing over the southern parts of India.
Due to this, light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning may occur at a few places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal from today till March 20th.
On 21st March, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal will receive light to moderate rain in a couple of places. The climate will remain partly cloudy for the next 24 hours. A few places in the city may experience moderate rain with thunder and lightning.
The sky will remain partly cloudy for the next 48 hours. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning may occur at a few places in the city. Fishermen are advised not to go fishing as cyclonic winds of 40 to 45 kmph."
