Surprise showers greet Tamil people today morning in many parts of Tamil Nadu: People in Chennai, Trichy, Thanjavur, and many other parts of Tamil Nadu woke to surprise showers today, 14 December morning. As per the predictions of the director of CMD, Puviarasan yesterday, rains lash Tiruchy, Thanjavur, and moderate showers chill many parts of Chennai. Also, IMD's 14 December morning bulletin confirms thundershowers in many places of Tamil Nadu.
It further predicts delta and coastal districts along with Thoothukudi, Sivagangai, and Ramanathapuram also to receive heavy rain. The TNSDMA or the Tamil Nadu Disaster Management Authority's report confirms 17 mm of rains in Tirunelveli, 7.4 mm in Nagapattinam, 2.4, and 1mm in Ramanathapuram and Cuddalore on Friday 13 December.
The reason for the surprise showers in Tamil Nadu is due to the atmospheric circulation over the southwest Bay of Bengal sea. The rains are set to increase during the day and intensify further during the evening and night hours. Rains from yesterday night lashed even the interior parts of Tamil Nadu. In the IMD of the Indian meteorological department website, it is mentioned that Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry will receive moderate rains from 13 to 16 December.
