Tamil Nadu Weather: Heavy Rain For Next 3 Days In 12 Districts

The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an orange warning for very heavy rains in Tamil Nadu today. In a notification issued by the India Meteorological Department, an orange alert has been issued to various districts today. It said that there is a possibility of very heavy rainfall in a few districts today.

Heavy Rain in 12 Districts Of Tamil Nadu:

The weather forecast indicates a high possibility of heavy rainfall in the following areas: Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Dindigul, Madurai, Sivagangai, Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Ariyalur, and Karaikal. Additionally, there is a forecast for heavy rainfall in Theni, Thenkasi, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, and other regions tomorrow.

Red Alert Warning:

It is anticipated that Tamil Nadu may experience heavy rainfall on the 24th and 25th of this month. The previously issued red alert for very heavy rain in Tamil Nadu has been lifted. The Chennai Meteorological Department has forecasted that there will be light to moderate rain in many areas, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph in isolated places across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. 

Additionally, heavy to very heavy rain is expected at isolated places in districts such as Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Theni, and Dindigul. Other areas likely to experience heavy rain include Nilgiris, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, Pudukkottai, Tiruchirappalli, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Cuddalore, Kallakurichi, Erode, Salem, Namakkal, Karur districts, and Karaikal area. 

On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, a few places are expected to see light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in isolated areas across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.

Furthermore, heavy to very heavy rain is forecasted for isolated places in the districts of Theni, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, and Kanyakumari, while heavy rain is likely in areas such as Virudhunagar, Madurai, Dindigul, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Nilgiris, and Thoothukudi.

Temperature Cast:

On  May 21, 2024 (today), it is forecasted that the maximum temperature will be 2-3°C below normal in specific areas across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal over the next 24 hours.

Today, heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Theni and Dindigul districts. Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Nilgiris, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, Pudukkottai, Tiruchirappalli, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Cuddalore, Kallakurichi, Erode, Salem, Namakkal & Karur districts and Karaikal area.

Thunderstorm Warning:

On May 21, 2025, today we can expect thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds with speeds reaching 30-40 kmph in isolated areas across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.
