Tamil Nadu Weather Report: Chance Of Heavy Rain In 22 Districts Today

The Chennai Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rains in 22 districts of Tamil Nadu today due to atmospheric circulation. Accordingly, heavy showers are expected in Vellore, Ranipettai, Thiruvannamalai, Tirupati, Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri districts and in districts including Kallakurichi, Salem, Erode, Namakkal, Tiruppur and Nilgiris.

There is also a possibility of heavy rain with thunder and lightning in one or two places in the southern districts. The Met Office has forecast light to moderate rain with thunder at several places in Pondicherry and Karaikal.

Meanwhile, the Revenue and Disaster Management Department said that 39 people had lost their lives due to rains in Tamil Nadu in the last 19 days. Heavy rain lashed in Coimbatore, Theni and Dindigul yesterday.

Thunder and slight rain are expected in some parts of Chennai. The northeast monsoon is expected to begin on October 26 in the Bay of Bengal and the south Indian subcontinent.  Therefore, the meteorological office said that the southwest monsoon would move from India, and the northeast monsoon would begin in southern India on October 26.
