Tamil Nadu Weather Report: Schools Declared Holiday Due To Heavy Rain

A few days ago, the Meteorological Department said that the low-pressure area in the south-western Bay of Bengal and adjacent coastal areas of Sri Lanka will continue and may move slowly towards the west for the next three days.

Most of the districts in Tamil Nadu are likely to receive showers till November 3, and some districts will receive heavy rains with thunderstorms, the  Meteorological Department said. 

Due to heavy rains, schools in Villupuram, Cuddalore, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Thiruvannamalai, Mayiladuthurai, Chengalpattu and Kanchipuram districts declared a holiday today. Some parts of the Coimbatore district had heavy rain yesterday. The climate is cloudy in Coimbatore as there was heavy rain at night.

Similarly, a holiday has been declared for schools in the Kodaikanal, the Dindigul district. Holidays have been announced for schools in Chennai also. Earlier, the Meteorological Department had issued an 'Orange Alert' for six districts in Tamil Nadu due to heavy rain.

Nine districts, including Madurai, Kanyakumari, Tanjore and Thiruvarur in Tamil Nadu, are likely to receive heavy rains today as the prevailing low-pressure area in the Kumarikkadal area intensifies.
