On Thursday, the Chennai Meteorological Center warned that there might be heavy rain in Tamil Nadu. As the southwest monsoon is expected to lessen, Tamil Nadu's rainfall has decreased slightly for the past few days.

Due to the low atmospheric circulation prevailing over the Andhra coastal areas, Chennai, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur and other districts have been experiencing widespread rain since early morning.

It is also reported that heavy rain will continue till October 9 in various districts across Tamil Nadu due to the low-pressure area over the West Bengal Sea. Accordingly, light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning may occur at some places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry today.

Heavy rain will likely occur today and tomorrow in Mayiladuthurai, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Cuddalore, Kallakurichi, Villupuram, Tiruvannamalai, Tirupathur, Vellore, Ranipet, Thiruvallur, Chennai, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Puducherry and Karaikal regions with heavy rain with thunder and lightning.

In this case, the Meteorological Department has warned that heavy rain will likely occur in North Tamil Nadu's and North Tamil Nadu's inner districts today.
