Tamil Nadu Weather: Yellow and Orange Alert Issued In 7 Districts

The Chennai Meteorological Department has informed that a heat wave is likely to hit the northern interior districts from today (May 1) to Friday (May 3), and the temperature will rise to 43 degrees Celsius in a couple of places.

Tamil Nadu has been affected by heat for more than a month. Apart from the districts bordering the Western Ghats of Tamil Nadu, a few places in the interior districts are already experiencing scorching temperatures of 110 degrees Celsius.

Tamil Nadu Yellow and Orange Alert:

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued yellow and orange warnings for those areas, saying that the temperature will increase on Friday.

Specifically, the northern interior districts of Tirupattur, Vellore, Ranipet, Kallakurichi, Tiruvannamalai, Kanchipuram, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, Namakkal, Karur, Erode, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Trichy, Ariyalur, Perambalur will experience 3 degrees above normal for another 3 days.

The Meteorological Department has issued a 'yellow' warning for the purpose of taking precautionary measures and awareness as the impact of heat will be high.

In a notification issued yesterday by the Chennai Meteorological Department, "Due to the heat wave, a low atmospheric circulation is prevailing over Tamil Nadu and adjoining areas. Due to this, light rain with thunder and lightning may occur at one or two places in the Western Ghats and adjoining districts till May 3. Other districts, Puducherry and Karaikal will experience dry weather."

Rain In Tamil Nadu:

As per the notice, Light to moderate rain with thunderstorm and lightning is likely to occur at one or two places over Western Ghats and adjoining districts. Dry weather is very likely to prevail over rest Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area today.
