Finance Minister Palanivel Thiagarajan announced that The Corporation would soon provide public wifi services that the public can use in Chennai, Madurai, Tambaram, Avadi, Coimbatore, Trichy and Salem.

As part of the Smart City project, wifi facility will be set up for public use. With smartphone and digital usage in India increasing manifold, this announcement of new wifi will greatly help the public.

Apart from this, the government has announced that steps will be taken to transform cities like Chennai, Hosur, and Coimbatore into technology cities and make Tamil Nadu a major IT destination.
