TN Weather Report: Heavy Rain At 29 Districts Including Chennai Today

The Indian Meteorological Department has already announced that there is a possibility of heavy rain in the states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry due to the Northeast Monsoon.

Chennai, Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Cuddalore, Thiruvarur, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Ranipettai, Vellore, Tirupattur, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Tiruchirappalli, Namakkal, Salem, Karur, Puthukottai have issued a notification. , Thanjavur, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Thenkasi, Ramanathapuram, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, and Kanyakumari districts will receive moderate rain today.

At the same time, due to the continuous heavy rains, the District Collectors have declared a one-day holiday for schools and colleges in Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Thiruvarur and Villupuram districts today (08.01.2024) as a precautionary measure in the interest of the students. Also, due to incessant rains, schools and colleges in Puducherry have been declared a holiday today.

Also, due to continuous heavy rain, only one day holiday has been declared for schools today in Chengalpattu, Kallakurichi, Ariyalur, Ranipet, Vellore, and Thiruvannamalai districts. Schools in the Karaikal area have also been declared a holiday today due to a heavy rain warning. 

At the same time, the concerned district collectors have announced that schools and colleges will function as usual in Chennai, Kanchipuram and Tirupattur districts today.
