India is about to celebrate its 71st Republic day this weekend. All the states in the country are getting ready to celebrate the national commemoration on January 26, 2020.

In Chennai, like every year, the governor of the state is about to hoist the tricolor at St.George Fort and honor the Republic Day Parade of the state. For that, the police department and the other defense department in the state are currently in the rehearsal.

To help the peacefull rehearsal, the Traffic Police Department of Greater Chennai has diverted the traffic in and around the places where rehearsals are underway. Chennai Traffic Control Department seems indirectly requesting the public to accommodate the rehearsal by diverting the traffic from Santhom and Kamarajar Road.

As per the notice released by the Chennai City Traffic Police Department, public vehicle movement has been completely scrapped from Santhome Church to Kamarajar Salai (War Memorial). The Cease of vehicle movement will be effective on the dates of January 20, 22, 23 and 26. On these dates, the Chennai City Traffic Police will not allow any vehicle to pass through between the time 6 am to 10 pm.

The Entry point towards the War Memorial has been completely shut during the above mentioned days and time. Anna Square bus terminus has been temporarily shifted to Walaja road guest house

According to the public notice of the traffic control department of Chennai, vehicles including MTC buses that are using Kamarajar Salai while traveling from Adayar to Broadway can use the Anna Salai, Royapettah, Kutcheri Road or Luz Church road.

Like the above diversion, MTC buses that are using Sivasamy Salai to reach Anna Square have been diverted via Music Academy road, Anna Salai, Smith Road, Royapettah GH and Walaja road. Also, vehicles can use Dr. Natesan road to reach Gandhi Statue instead of RK Salai.
