CBI Summons TVK Chief Vijay in Karur Stampede Case

Actor-turned-politician and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay has been summoned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the Karur stampede case. He is scheduled to appear before the agency on Monday, January 12.
The development comes at a crucial political moment, as Tamil Nadu prepares for the upcoming Assembly elections. Vijay, who has emerged as a significant political figure with strong youth support, is widely seen as a potential game-changer in the state's electoral dynamics.
The summons coincides with the renewed BJP–AIADMK alliance, which has rejoined the NDA but continues to face challenges in consolidating its position in Tamil Nadu. In this context, Vijay and TVK are being closely watched for their possible impact on opposition vote shares and alliance formations.
With alliance talks still evolving, the CBI move has added fresh political overtones to an already intense pre-election atmosphere in Tamil Nadu.
