Vijay Meets Karur Victims Families, Public Moved

One month after the Karur public meeting tragedy, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay met the families of the 41 people who lost their lives.
The meeting took place on Monday, October 27, 2025, at a private resort near Mamallapuram. Vijay met each family personally, offered his heartfelt condolences, and apologized for the loss.
He promised that TVK will continue to support the families, including taking care of the education of the victims children.
After the meeting, many families said they felt Vijay's apology was heartfelt. People across Tamil Nadu are now seeing him as a responsible leader, not just a film star.
At first, the focus was on the party's mistakes that led to the tragic event. But now, the public mood has changed. Many believe the accident was not intentional, and they appreciate Vijay's emotional and honest response.
Even though some criticised the resort venue, his gesture of meeting every family personally has created a wave of sympathy and strengthened his public image.
With this meeting done, TVK is ready to resume political work after a month of silence. Vijay has called for a Special General Council Meeting on November 5 in Mamallapuram. This meeting will discuss the party's future plans and how to improve its organisation and safety systems for big events.
Vijay said the last month was a period of "meaningful, deep silence" to reflect and rebuild.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has handed over the Karur investigation to the CBI, and the Madras High Court has given the Tamil Nadu government ten days to prepare new rules (SOPs) for political meetings.
These steps are expected to change how political rallies are held across the state, not just for TVK but for all parties.
