People have gathered to express their condolences and pay their final respects to the late DMDK chief, Vijayakanth, whose body is currently placed at Island Grounds in Chennai. Politicians and members of the film industry have visited Vijayakanth's family on stage to offer their condolences.

Following the demise of the Actor and DMDK president, Vijayakanth, his body was initially kept at the Saligramam house for a brief period before being taken in a procession to the DMDK office in Koyembedu. The gathering of party workers, fans, and the public led to an overwhelming crowd, and despite police presence, it became challenging to manage.

In response to the situation, Vijayakanth's body has now been moved to Island Grounds as a tribute. The Chennai Corporation has made necessary arrangements, including provisions for drinking water and toilet facilities on the island. Paths have been designated for people to pay their respects, attracting large crowds, with thousands of policemen deployed for security.

A procession is scheduled to move Vijayakanth's body from the island at 1.30 pm, and the cremation is set to take place at the DMDK office in Coimbatore at 4.30 pm today. Notably, the Tamil Nadu government has declared that he will be cremated with full state honours.
