Will lockdown continue or not in Tamil Nadu with its continuous rise even today: Today the new infection cases in Tamil Nadu came close to 7,000 for the third day. Due to its rapid rise, now the question of continuing lockdown after July rises among the people. Also, there are rumors that many districts now, with increasing cases, there may be intense lockdown.

There are also expectations of the state transport buses to run from August 1. Chief Minister is having a meeting will all the collectors on July 29 to decide on all these issues. Also, there are rumors that the prime minister may have a meeting with the chief ministers about continuing lockdown 6.0 and of unlocking down 3.0.

COVID 19 in Chennai: Though the new cases are close to 7,000 for the past three days, the number of infections remains 1,200 in Chennai. Today there were only 1,155 new cases, but the death toll was high at 26. Also, the number of active new cases after discharge is reducing day by day with currently only at 13,744. If the positivity rate decreases and the discharge rate increases in the next few days, Chennai may become active again.

Coronavirus infections in Tamil Nadu districts: While Madurai is having a reduced number of cases of only 209, Coimbatore have 220 new infections. Tiruchy has 135 cases, and Salem has 162 new cases. As usual, the three adjacent districts of Chennai are continuously increasing even today with Chengalpattu - 501 and 5 deaths, Kancheepuram - 363 with three fatalities and Tiruvallur with 480 cases and five deaths. The other districts with an increased number of cases include

  • Cuddalore- 165
  • Dharmapuri - 131
  • Dindigul - 203
  • Kallakuruchi -125

Though there is a reduced number of a case in Madurai, most of the southern districts around it are increasing with new cases.
