Samsung is preparing to kick off its smartphone calendar for 2026 with the launch of the Galaxy S26 Ultra, expected to debut on February 25. The flagship device will headline the company's first Galaxy Unpacked event of the year, alongside the standard Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ models.

After the underwhelming market response to the Galaxy S25 Edge, which reportedly struggled with sustained demand, Samsung has decided to return to its trusted Galaxy S lineup.

Industry observers believe the Edge model's performance may have prompted Samsung to cancel plans for a follow-up and instead focus on refreshed designs and a more refined flagship experience. This strategic shift resulted in a slight delay of just over a month, allowing production to scale up ahead of launch.

According to Ice Universe, the launch timeline currently applies to the South Korean market, with pre-orders expected to open from February 26 to March 4. A pre-sale phase is likely to follow from March 5 to March 10, before wider availability begins.

Samsung is also expected to offer exclusive colour variants for the Galaxy S26 Ultra through its official online store, continuing a strategy seen in recent launches. Additionally, the company may partner with Google to bundle a free Google AI Pro subscription offering up to 1 year of access, similar to the benefits of Google's Pixel 10 Pro.

On the storage front, Samsung is likely to continue its popular "double storage" promotion. Under this offer, buyers could receive:

While rising memory and storage costs could increase Samsung's bill of materials, the company appears willing to absorb some of that impact to keep the Galaxy S26 Ultra competitive in the premium segment.

With top-tier specifications, aggressive launch offers and renewed focus on its core lineup, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is shaping up to be one of the most powerful and closely watched smartphones of 2026.
