Vivo is reportedly preparing to expand its V-series lineup in India with the launch of the Vivo V80 series. The upcoming smartphones are expected to arrive in mid-August, around six months after the company introduced the Vivo V70 and Vivo V70 Elite in February.
According to recent leaks, the Vivo V80 series will focus on incremental upgrades rather than a complete redesign. While the overall display size and design are expected to remain largely unchanged from the previous generation, the new models could bring improvements in performance, battery life, security, and camera capabilities.
Vivo V80 is tipped to compete directly with the recently launched Oppo Reno 16, which starts at Rs 61,999 for the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant. Vivo is also expected to price its upcoming smartphone in a similar premium mid-range segment.
Performance and Software
The device could be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor, offering better CPU and GPU performance and improved AI capabilities compared to the previous generation. The handset is also expected to ship with Vivo's latest Funtouch OS based on Android 16.
Battery and Charging
One of the biggest upgrades could be the battery. The Vivo V80 series is rumoured to pack a 7,200mAh battery, significantly larger than its predecessor, while retaining 90W wired fast charging support for quicker top-ups.
Camera
The camera is expected to remain a key highlight. Vivo may once again collaborate with Zeiss on camera tuning, equipping the phone with a triple-camera setup that includes a high-resolution primary sensor, an ultrawide lens, and a dedicated telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.
Durability and Security
The smartphone is also tipped to feature IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance, along with a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner that offers faster, more reliable biometric authentication than traditional optical sensors.
While Vivo has yet to announce the V80 series officially, more details are expected to surface as the anticipated August launch approaches.
