Japan: 6.1 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes East Coast of Honshu Today

An earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale occurred this morning off the east coast of Honshu, Japan. A powerful earthquake, measured at 7.2 on the Richter scale, struck Taipei, the capital of Taiwan, yesterday morning. However, the US Geological Survey reported that the earthquake was recorded as 7.4 on the Richter scale, while the Japan Meteorological Agency reported it as 7.7.

The earthquake, the strongest in Taiwan in 25 years, resulted in the deaths of 9 people and left more than 1,000 injured. Following the earthquake, a tsunami warning was issued in Japan, with the Japan Meteorological Agency forecasting waves of up to 3 meters in height.

The impact of the earthquake was felt in China, Hong Kong, Japan, and the Philippines, and officials have warned that additional tremors may occur in the coming days.

In this situation, a powerful earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale occurred this morning off the east coast of Honshu, Japan. The earthquake's epicentre was located 32 km deep, according to the Euro-Mediterranean Center for Earthquake Science. Despite this, no tsunami warning has been issued so far.
