At least eight people were killed, and over 100 were injured after a major strike hit the B1 bridge in Karaj, Iran, marking a sharp escalation in the ongoing conflict involving the United States and Israel.

The attack targeted a key infrastructure project linking Tehran to Karaj, sending shockwaves across the region.

The bridge, reported to be around 136 metres high and among the tallest in the Middle East, was still under construction when it was partially destroyed. Iranian media described the structure as a critical part of a major highway network intended to improve connectivity with the capital.

Shortly after the strike, US President Donald Trump publicly reacted, sharing a video of the bridge being hit. In a strongly worded message, he warned Tehran that there was "much more to follow" and urged Iran to agree to a deal before it was "too late."

Trump claimed that US military actions had significantly weakened Iran's capabilities and stated that Washington was close to achieving its core strategic objectives.

"The biggest bridge in Iran comes tumbling down… much more to follow," Trump said, adding that Iran risked losing what remained of its future if it refused negotiations.

However, Iran swiftly pushed back against the remarks. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi dismissed Trump's warning, stating that such attacks would not force Iran into surrender. He described the strike as a sign of desperation, calling it evidence of "defeat and moral collapse" by an adversary under pressure.

The attack reportedly also caused damage in Tehran, including to the historic Pasteur Institute of Iran, a century-old research centre. Iranian authorities blamed both the United States and Israel for the strikes.

The latest developments come as the conflict enters its second month, with military operations intensifying across multiple fronts. Despite mounting destruction and casualties, both sides appear unwilling to back down, raising concerns about a prolonged and widening war in the region.

Trump, meanwhile, has continued to project confidence, claiming that the US-led operations have already dismantled much of Iran's military strength and that the mission is nearing completion.

As tensions continue to rise, the international community watches closely, with fears growing over further escalation and its global consequences.
