A drone incident near the United States Consulate in Dubai sparked a large fire and thick black smoke, prompting an immediate response from emergency teams and air defence systems across the city.

Local authorities confirmed that the fire broke out in a parking area close to the U.S. consulate. Emergency crews arrived quickly at the scene and contained the blaze, preventing it from spreading further. Officials stated that no injuries were reported.

Videos circulating online showed dark smoke rising above the consulate complex, drawing attention from residents and visitors in nearby areas. Earlier in the day, people across parts of Dubai reported hearing loud sounds, which authorities later clarified were the result of air-defence interception operations.

According to the UAE Ministry of Defence, the country's air-defence systems intercepted multiple incoming threats as tensions in the region escalated. Officials reported that 11 ballistic missiles and 123 drones were intercepted, while one missile landed inside the country without causing casualties.

The ministry also revealed broader figures since the start of what it described as Iranian aggression. Authorities said 186 ballistic missiles were detected heading toward the UAE, of which air defence systems destroyed 172, 13 fell into the sea, and one landed within the country.

In addition, 812 Iranian drones were detected, with 755 intercepted and 57 falling inside UAE territory. The defence ministry also confirmed that eight cruise missiles were detected and successfully destroyed.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio condemned Iran's strategy of using drones and missiles, warning that such tactics would not shield Tehran from consequences.

The United States would not allow Iran to obtain nuclear weapons, describing the Iranian leadership as a regime attempting to hide behind missile and drone attacks while advancing its nuclear ambitions.

Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates reaffirmed that it is not a party to the ongoing conflict. In a statement, the UAE Foreign Ministry said the country has not permitted the use of its territory, airspace, or territorial waters for attacks against Iran, emphasising its long-standing policy of good neighbourliness and de-escalation.

The ministry also stressed that the UAE retains the right to self-defence under international law and the United Nations Charter. Authorities urged media outlets and the public to rely only on credible official sources and avoid spreading unverified reports that could cause confusion or panic.

Although the fire near the U.S. consulate was quickly contained and no casualties were reported, the incident highlights the growing tension and expanding reach of regional conflicts into major Gulf cities.

As air-defence systems remain on high alert and governments monitor the situation closely, the latest developments raise serious questions about how far the confrontation could spread in the coming days.
